Self Development and Transformation

Self Development and TransformationSelf Development and Transformation

Do you want to transform yourself?  Do you hunger for a life change that will move you in a new direction?  Many of us take a while to determine what we should be doing with our lives, and sometimes with time, those decisions change again.  Then, we are faced with self development and transformation.

How do you move forward with a new direction for your life?  How do you find the motivation, the confidence and defeat the fear to make a change down the road?  Let’s explore those three things, motivation, confidence and fear.

Motivation – Motivation is sometimes measured by awards.  I know that in my 30 year real estate career, I have received many production rewards.  I realized after a time, that although I kept receiving these awards, they did not measure what was important to me.  Those awards measured a gross income figure that did not reflect my true net bottom line nor did it reflect the excellent care I took of my buyer and seller clients which was so important to me.  You need to think about and discover what is your true motivation.

Confidence –  Confidence is a funny thing.   I was always told by my mom, “Don’t toot your own horn.”  I was talking with a friend the other day about this subject, and she said her mother always told her, “The cream rises to the top”. Some people can seem confident, or even over confident and really be quite insecure; others can be confident to the point of being conceited.  True confidence is a rare thing, and a characteristic to be developed and treasured.  Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “Confidence…thrives on honesty, on honor, on the sacredness of obligations, on faithful protection and on unselfish performance.  Without them it cannot live.”

Fear – Are you living in a safe zone, or do you feel you are not fully living in your safe zone?  Many people live lives of quiet desperation because of fear of the unknown.  Fear of failure, fear of making a mistake, and fear of judgement by others often hold people back from taking risk and from changing their lives.  What if you just make a change…you just do something different and daring…what would happen?  Would you feel more alive; would you ultimately be happier and more fulfilled?  I highly recommend you read “Feel the Fear…and Do It Anyway” by Dr. Susan Jeffers.  It’s a great book for when you need some guidance in moving forward through fear.

Motivation, confidence and fear are not stand alone characteristics.  They work together to create a transformational you.  They must walk hand in hand if you truly long to transform your life at any stage or at any age.

Be Your Best You!
